First: Is Tap Water Safe?
This is an important question.
The United States has one of the safest public drinking water systems in the world, and public water systems are regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
However, "meets government standards" does not mean every possible contaminant is removed.
Water quality can vary based on:
where you live
your local water source
aging infrastructure
plumbing inside your home
emerging contaminants that may not yet be regulated

For our family, the question wasn't:
